Our baby boy was blessed today. Here is the blessing that was given.
Andrew blessed our son today. Here are the words of his blessing.
Our Father in Heaven. We come before thee this Sabbath day, by the authority of the Melchizedek priesthood, which we hold, to give this boy a name and a blessing. Father, this child's name is Peter Ray Townsend.
Peter, you are surrounded by men who hold the priesthood, who have honored that priesthood, and kept themselves worthy so that they can serve others with that priesthood, and they'll watch over you, even after we have left the Earth. Peter, you are a prince, an heir to the kingdom of God. You have a strength and a will to grow that has exhibited from the moment you came to Earth. You've been a light to the lives of everyone that has met you. Peter, we bless you that inside your heart will burn a desire to learn and grow and question. We bless you that as you struggle with the gospel and you struggle with the truths in your life and the history of the gospel on the earth that you will feel a burning desire to know the truth, and you will find that truth as you pray and study the scriptures. Peter you have already been an inspiration to many, to align their lives with the gospel, to come to Christ, to remember the things that are most important in their lives, and we bless you that this will continue, as you grow and that fire burns within you. We bless you with health and with strength, and with a continued growth both physically, and mentally and spiritually, and you will keep your mind centered on progress. Peter, I as your father give you these blessings, and these men gathered in the circle also give you these blessings, and especially your Father in Heaven, who has cared for you since the beginning, and we do this in the name of our savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
